Zeno Group Chicago, Tear Down That Wall!

Okay, so maybe it’s not quite as historically significant as when President Reagan stood at the Berlin Wall in 1987 and chided Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev, but it sure felt good today to swing our own hammer (a Craftsman brand hammer, of course).  A wall came down this afternoon on the 52nd floor of the Aon Center and over the next 60 days the capacity of Zeno Group Chicago will grow by about 50 percent.

I have to admit, it’s been kind of fun being packed in like sardines for the past year. We had people using credenzas and countertops as makeshift desks and our small kitchen café has been doubling as a conference room. But the close quarters has brought us closer together as a team and I think even after we spread out in our new digs, we will look back on 2011 and consider it time well spent in each other’s laps.

It will be exciting to watch the new space come together. I am sure there will be much discussion (and jockeying) for the prime office spots and work stations. But at the end of the day—regardless of where people end up sitting—the coolest part of this construction project is that it shows Zeno is growing, more talented people are coming and we’re  doing our part to create jobs in a challenging economic environment.

After more than a decade at Zeno, I can promise you there’s not a bad seat in the house.
